From the Middle of the Woods
RealGame comes from a country of sincere, fact-focused, reliable, and competent education enthusiasts.
In Finland, equal opportunities for education encourage experimenting with ideas and putting them to work. This is how RealGame was born; out of curiosity and determination to explore if a dynamic, continuously processed business game could be built. It could! To understand how students learn with RealGame we carry out research that also helps us with our development.
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy active learning that is grounded on pedagogically sound practices. Learning dynamic phenomena the way they are – constantly evolving, simultaneously proceeding and time dependent – brings huge benefits to students’ understanding of systemic and causal processes. Collaborative learning with RealGame also develops essential work life skills and 21st century skills. Meaningful learning experiences carry a long way.
We are a tight team of professionals dedicated to help you and your students learn.
Timo Lainema created RealGame in his PhD (Econ & Bus Adm) project to serve as a collaborative learning environment for business and SCM. RealGame’s core ideas, real-time processing, transaction specific data and authenticity are in today’s turbulent environment more relevant than ever. Timo is Adjunct Professor of Education (University of Turku, Finland) and Information and Media Studies (University of Tampere, Finland).
Kirsi Lainema (PhD, Econ & Bus Adm) has been teaching students in Management and Organization, and she has researched digital learning and pedagogy from various perspectives. Her work on the development of students’ work life skills and teachers’ role in game-based learning help develop teaching and learning with RealGame.
