RealGame Introduction

Welcome to participate RealGame simulation gaming training!

RealGame training is based on experiential learning where groups of participants manage virtual manufacturing companies. In your company, you will make decisions on production, sales, marketing, R&D, finance and logistics. Together with your team mates you will be learning both through interaction with the simulation model, as well as with each other.

The experiential nature and the intensity and motivational aspects of the training enhance and strengthen the learning experience. The simulation game has been developed by Timo Lainema in his doctoral studies in Turku School of Economics, Finland. Until Autumn 2007, some 2.500 business managers and experts have participated in the training.

The following pages will quide you through the basics of RealGame. You will get an overall view on how RealGame works, what decisions and action are to be taken in the game and what  learning aims we have. Rather than being a simulation demo, the pages introduce you to RealGame logics and content. We will go through the processes and areas of decision making in closer detail when we meet.

In the end of the  RealGame training session you will know:

  • How the different systems in your company interconnect, so you will be better able to increase the efficiency of the system.

  • How your work and the work of the rest of the people in different departments fit together to effect the financial performance of your company.

  • How operational limitations affect company strategy.

RealGame training consists of various themes which will be introduced to you during the training, and which we will discuss in the beginning and end of each gaming phase.

RealGame training delivers a process focused view on business which is unique compared to any traditional business training.
